Green Info

There are few construction materials 'greener' than metal. With it's recycle-ability and long lasting life-cycle, metal can create many opportunities for LEED points.

Materials and Resources

MR CREDIT 2: Construction Waste Mgmt: Divert from Disposal 1-2 pts

The intent of MR Credit 2 is to divert construction debris from disposal in landfills by recycling resources back into the manufacturing process. The goal of this credit is to recycle or salvage at least 50% (for 1 pt) or 75% (for 2 pts) of construction or demolition debris.

MR CREDIT 3: Material Reuse 1-2 pts

The intent of MR Credit 3 is to reuse building materials in order to reduce waste. Salvaged materials should constitute a minimum of 5% (for 1 pt) or 10% (for 2 pts) based on cost of the total value of materials on the project.

MR CREDIT 4: Recycled Content 1-2 pts

The intent of MR Credit 4 is to increase the demand for building products that incorporate recycled content. Recycled material should constitute a minimum of 10% (for 1 pt) or 20% (for 2 pts) based on the total value of materials on the project.

Energy and Atmosphere

EA CREDIT 1: Optimize Energy Performance 1-19 pts

The intent of EA Credit 1 is to achieve higher levels of energy performance throughout the entire building to reduce the environmental impacts for Energy overuse. In order to comply with this credit and to achieve the maximum number of points, the building must show a percentage increase in energy savings per ASHREA/ESNA.

Innovation in Design

ID Credit 1: Innovation in Design 1-5 pts

The intent of ID Credit 1 is to provide design teams with the opportunity to achieve exceptional performance above the requirements set by the LEED Rating System not specifically addressed by the building rating system. One point is earned per innovation with a maximum of five.

Indoor Environmental Quality

EQ CREDIT 4.1: Low-Emitting Materials: Adhesives and Sealants 1 pt

The intent of EQ Credit 4.1 is to reduce the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous, irritating, and /or harmful to the comfort and well being of installers and occupants.

EQ CREDIT 4.2: Low-Emitting Materials: Paints and Coatings 1 pt

The intent of EQ Credit 4.2 is to reduce the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous, irritating, and /or harmful to the comfort and well being of installers and occupants.

EQ CREDIT 8.1: Daylight and Views: Daylight 1 pt

The intent of EQ Credit 8.1 is to provide ambient daylight to create a connection between the outdoors and indoor spaces for the regularly occupied areas of the building.

EQ CREDIT 8.2: Daylight and Views: Views 1 pt

The intent of EQ Credit 8.2 is to provide views to create a connection to the outdoors from the regularly occupied areas of the building.
